CHINA - Beijing - May 31st, 2011

Dear colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend a Transcontinental Symposium focusing on Sino-Austrian High-Tech Acupuncture Research, at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, May 31st, 2011.

The Sino-Austrian Collaboration Centre for Chinese Medical Sciences was opened at China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) in fall of 2007 with efforts of both sides, and it is a very good platform for the scientists of China and Austria to conduct the joint research in the field of Chinese medicine.

A joint research project of ‘TCM and Age Related Diseases’ has been defined together, which covers 9 sub-projects on quality, safety and efficacy of herbal medicines as well as the effects of acupuncture. For this reason it is necessary that the ‘High-tech Acupuncture Research Team’ from Beijing and Graz meets personally in China and Austria regularly.

The present meeting will surely provide a good opportunity for the ‘High-Tech Acupuncture Research Team’, consisting of scientists from China and Austria, to present the research progress in cooperation, discuss in more detail the joint Sino-Austrian High-Tech Acupuncture Research and how to promote the scientific evaluation of the basic research on high-tech acupuncture.

We look forward to welcoming you in Beijing.

Professor ZHU Bing
(Director of the Institute of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, Beijing, China) and

Professor Gerhard LITSCHER
(Head of the TCM Research Center Graz at the Medical University of Graz, Graz, Austria)
